An Air Force chief master sergeant – at one time the top enlisted airmen in Air Force Materiel Command – will face a general court martial Dec. 6 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
AFMC is the parent command for Robins Air Force Base.
Chief Master Sgt. William Gurney faces 20 charges including specifications of adultery, misuse of government equipment and his official position, wrongful sexual contact, indecent conduct and maltreatment of subordinates.
The announcement came from a public affairs press release issued by Scott AFB on Thursday.
Gurney was charged in February with violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice by engaging in 18 specifications of sexual misconduct and unprofessional relationships with ten enlisted women, the release indicated.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations that began in November of 2009 after, according to the Scott release, a “junior enlisted female member came forward with allegations of sexual harassment.”
Gurney was removed from his command chief position in November 2009. Although the senior sergeant was assigned to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, the trial will be held at the Illinois site – an Air Mobility Command base – since Gurney worked directly for the AFMC commander.
