Warner Robins police will be handling security and traffic responsibilities for Friday’s annual Independence Day celebration at McConnell-Talbert Stadium featuring Diamond Rio.
To help the public prepare for the big event, police have announced a schedule of road closings and parking guidelines.
• At noon, 3rd Avenue will be closed to all vehicle traffic, including parking, from Davis Drive to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Only pedestrian traffic will be allowed.
• At 4 p.m., Demon Valley Drive will be closed to all traffic, including parking.
• At 5 p.m., Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed to all southbound vehicle traffic from 3rd Avenue to the Huntington Village entrance.
According to a news release from the police department, the following seven areas are set aside for parking: Crossroads School, McConnell-Talbert Stadium, Rumble Academy, Old Shoppette Area at Education Way, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Robins Federal Credit Union and the City of Warner Robins Municipal Complex.
Police went on to note that Macon State College is not open to concert parking as summer classes are in session, and there will be no parking allowed along city streets, shoulders, rights of way, sidewalks or any of the improved grass areas of Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Macon State College property. Improperly parked vehicles will be immediately towed at owner’s expense, according to the news release.
The stadium’s gates open at 6 p.m.
Those walking to the concert can enter the stadium at its main gate and the Demon Valley/Davis Drive gate. Those walking from the west side of Davis Drive are to use the Demon Valley crosswalk or the pedestrian bridge at Warner Robins High.
An area for handicap parking is available next to the stadium’s main gate, but parking is limited.
For information or if an emergency arises, a public safety operations center will be located just outside the main gate.
