Nicholas White, Houston County public defender, said in a letter Tuesday the ban on his jail visits has been lifted.
Houston County Sheriff Cullen Talton banned White from the jail last Thursday, citing a questionable relationship between White and a female inmate who was his client.
In his letter, White acknowledged the “appearance of favoritism toward a client and the unintentional violation of jail policies.” He went on to say he took responsibility for his actions and personally apologized to Talton, thanking him for lifting the ban.
The ban stemmed from complaints by other White clients he was spending an inordinate amount of time with one inmate and brought her food and other items that were deemed contraband.
White concluded his letter by saying he was grateful Talton’s understanding, and that he “will not violate that trust he has placed in me.”
