According to reports, Centerville police went to U.S. 41 and Clever Way to investigate the incident.
An 87-year-old woman said she was approached by a black male in the mall’s parking lot near the Belk’s store around 10:30 a.m. and was forced into her car, police reports stated.
The suspect drove to the area of the intersection of U.S. 41 and Clever Way just north of Russell Parkway, stole money from the woman’s purse and made her leave the car before driving off, reports stated. The woman suffered a broken arm in the incident.
The car has been listed on a national computer as being stolen and a “BOLO” – be on the look-out for – has been issued to law enforcement agencies in the Southeast, according to reports.
As of Wednesday morning the suspect is still at large, police say.
Police departments in Centerville, Warner Robins and Fort Valley, along with the Peach County Sheriff’s office, are investigating the incident.
