Republican gubernatorial hopefuls will gather for a “Debate in the Midstate” Tuesday at the Galleria Mall Conference Center.
There will be a meet and greet event from 6-7 p.m., with the debate following from 7-9 p.m.
The debate---the first among candidates from either party in Middle Georgia---is sponsored by The Warner Robins Patriot and WRWR AM1350 and FM107.5 and will be broadcast live on the stations.
Candidates at the event will include Secretary of State Karen Handel, U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal, State Sen. Eric Johnson, State Sen. Jeff Chapman, State Rep. Austin Scott and businessman Ray McBerry. John Oxendine, state fire and insurance commissioner, has yet to commit.
The candidates will field questions from David Cranshaw, Jake Jacobs and Gene Rector of The Warner Robins Patriot, Earl “Trip” Shinn of Macon State College, and Shaw Blackmon, CEO of National Bank Products and a board member of the Technical College System of Georgia.
