Several Houston County schools participated in “Operation Seasons Greetings” by creating cards and writing letters for our troops in the Middle East and Europe.

MaryTherese Tebbe, the show emcee, and CMSgt Jay Willis, producer of “Operation Season’s Greetings,” collected contributions from the schools and personally delivered the items to troops in several overseas locations.

They are currently visiting troops fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, bringing them tidings from home and thank-you notes for their sacrifice.

Special guest artists helping Tebbe deliver the students’ greetings are rising country music star and former Warner Robins resident Jessie James and award-winning superstar Kid Rock. This is the 10th year the Houston County School System has supported the show, along with the Band of the Air Force Reserve.

Schools participating this year are: Eagle Springs Elementary, Miller Elementary, Linwood Elementary, Lake Joy Primary, Feagin Mill Middle, Huntington Middle, Mossy Creek Middle and Houston County High.

"I love the one card presented in al Dhafra that says 'Our Troops Rock!' The troops went wild over it!" said Tebbe. "The wing commanders are the ones receiving the cards and letters and they all say to tell the students, 'We love and appreciate all of you, and what we do, we do for you!' This has been the common quote when I ask what they would tell these students if they could talk to them."
