The Houston County Board of Education approved the following at its meeting Tuesday in Perry:

• Authorized Superintendent David Carpenter to contact board attorneys and investigate whether HB 251, passed by the General Assembly this year, is in conflict with the state constitution. Board members were particularly concerned with Sections 2 and 3 of the bill, which addresses nepotism issues and qualifications for superintendent. “This is not a friendly bill,” said board member Skip Dawkins. “We have many prominent educators and teachers who would be in conflict with this bill. And, our legislative delegation approved it.”
