Northside’s girls posted a shutout Thursday, hosting and beating Hardaway 5-0.

“Taylor Poole, Keina Crawford, Allison Broeils, Zayna Al-Husein and Anna Maddox all scored for the Lady Eagles, who improved to 4-3-0 and 2-0-0 in Area 1-AAAA. The Lady Hawks fell to 3-4-0, 0-1-0. Anyssa Ybarbo also had two assists and Kellie Starvetsky and Sierra Sawyer one for Northside.

“I’d be hard to list ‘just one’ standout this game,” said Head Coach Ryan Burkhart whose squad was up 3-0 at the half. “The whole team played really well and we did what we needed to do today.

“I was particularly proud of the second team who we subbed in to rest the starters after we scored a few goals. They didn’t miss a beat once we put them.”

He added: “The game against Hardaway presented a challenge because we had to reschedule last week’s NHS-Columbus game to this Friday. I wanted the team to try and put some early goals on the board, so we could rest who we needed to, and they did just that.

“I feel like we will be in great shape for the game today against another tough region opponent.”

Northside’s boys did not fare as well, falling to the Hawks 2-0. They dropped to 1-6-0, 0-2-0 while Hardaway improved to 4-1-2, 1-0-0.
