Veterans came up well short of its bid to saddle Crisp County with its first loss of the year. The Cougars beat the Warhawks 14-3 to improve to 8-0. Veterans fell to 5-5 in the non-region contest – the second time it has fallen to this particular school.

Crisp out-hit the Warhawks 16-6 while scoring two runs in the second, three in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and finally four in the seventh.

Veterans pushed one across in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings.

Zach Wilkes accounted for two of those hits for the Warhawks. He went 2-4. Blake Jackson went 1-3 but it was a triple that drove in one. And, he also scored.

Veterans used six pitchers to try and stop the bleeding. Only one enjoyed some success, Hunter Cossette, who pitched one inning and during that span did not give up a run. He did give up a hit during the inning and walked one but came out of it unscathed.
