Fast-forward to Saturday and the Class AAA finals in Dublin. Westfield and Stratford met again, and has already been alluded to the Lady Hornets fell two games to none in the best-of-three series. Stratford, earning its third-straight title, won the first game 7-5 and the second 6-3.
Things started out good for Westfield in Game 1. It scored a run in the first. The Lady Eagles answered with a pair in the third but the Lady Hornets tied it in the bottom of the inning.
Stratford went ahead again in the top of the fourth inning, however. Two runs gave it a 3-2 lead. Three mores run in the seventh turned out to be critical insurance as Westfield put up two in the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Hornets, the visitor this time, again scored one in the first inning in Game 2. One more in the fourth put them up 2-0 but Stratford plated three in the bottom of the inning.
Westfield again tied it with a run in the sixth but the Lady Eagles scored three in the bottom of the inning and then held the Lady Hornets off the scoreboard in the seventh.
Westfield actually out-hit Stratford 9-8 in Game 1 but was out-hit 8-4 in Game 2.
