He is accused of making a false statement during the police investigation of a lost city-issued cell phone.
In June, Williams accused a homeless woman of stealing his cell phone at a Waffle House .
The phone was later found in some bushes outside the restaurant, according to police.
A special prosecutor from Dublin is handling the case.
