History was made on Friday, September 17, 2010, when WRWR-TV 38 began test broadcasting at approximately 3:00 PM. Later that day, at a little past 4:00 PM, Georgia Eagle Media, Inc. President and CEO Cecil Staton and Board Chairman Dr. Joe Sam Robinson, pressed the switch at the transmitter site and official broadcasts began.

WRWR-TV 38 is the first television station licensed to and operated from studios in Warner Robins, Georgia. WRWR-TV was designed, built, and operates as the first fully digital high definition television station in central Georgia.

But that is not its only unique feature. WRWR-TV 38 was built to cover the Robins region from the unique perspective of Warner Robins and Houston County, the growth corridor of central Georgia. Before WRWR-TV 38 all television news was based and operated from Macon, some 20 miles north. Warner Robins received some coverage, but not the coverage the 8th largest city in Georgia with the largest employer and industrial complex in the state deserves. WRWR-TV intends to focus on local news, weather, sports, education, and Robins Air Force Base from the unique perspective of Warner Robins and the Robins region.

On Friday, September 24, 2010, WRWR-TV began its premier local news product, Newsnight on the Patriot, at 6:00 PM. Newsnight is unlike any other news show in the region or state. First of all, it is not a traditional 30 minute sound bite oriented news show where no story gets more than one or two minutes. Newsnight is a full two hours in length allowing for more in-depth coverage of local news, weather, and sports, including long-form segments with interviews of newsmakers and the Patriot Panel that allows community leaders to have their say on Newsnight.

Since its launch, WRWR-TV has been constantly expanding its local programming options. Already airing are the following local shows:

Observations, with Dr. Joe Sam Robinson, Mondays at 8:00 PM

Inside Georgia Politics with Senator Cecil Staton, Thursdays at 8:00 PM

Mercer University Athletics including all home basketball games and coach’s shows.

High School Football Game of the Week

But we are only getting started. The Robins region now has a truly locally focused television station that can be found on all major cable systems in the Robins regions including:

COX Channel 112

ComSouth Channel 212

Watson Cable Channel 15

Suburban Cable Channel 15

Flint Cable Channels 123 and 136

When not broadcasting live and local, WRWR-TV offer viewers two options: America One Network programming is predominately found on 38.1 (see www.americaone.com for program listings) and on 38.2 we are proud to broadcast the programming of Universal Sports (visit www.universalsports.com for listings). Expect more great things from WRWR-TV 38. We’ve only just begun!
